Mission and Purpose
The goal of the GRCHS Fine Arts Cohort is to offer students a high-quality arts education, regardless of background, previous experience, or even beginning ability level. The purpose of the arts is not always to create eminent individuals who will change the world through their art, but rather, to allow humans to interact with each other and communicate in ways that are only possible through communal creative experiences.
The Fine Arts Cohort program will engender a love for the arts, an appreciation of various talents and abilities, and an understanding of the mysteries of the creative and performing arts through rigorous and varied instruction throughout a student's high school career.

Overview: Students will audition for entry into the Fine Arts Cohort, usually at the end of their 8th grade year. Once accepted, students will focus their study on their chosen arts discipline, for four years. Students completing the program, earning a minimum of 12 fine arts credits and successfully completing the benchmark performance requirements, will receive a unique cord to be worn at during graduation.
Participants: Up to 30 Students total accepted each year.
Students will receive rigorous, arts- and project-based instruction in both “Integrated Arts” courses, which will be co-taught by FAC faculty. Students in the program will not only dramatically increase their personal abilities in their arts own disciplines, but will also learn how to work with students across the other arts areas, through collaborative community performances and exhibitions.
